This wasn’t the shot I had in mind for this location, but looking back, I find it is the perfect addition to the Milky Way Over Colorado Project. This photo was taken in October 2024, when Comet C/2023 A3, or Tsuchinshan-ATLAS, was visible from Earth for the last time in 80,000 years. We also happened to be nearing the end of Milky Way season, which allowed for this composition at a church found east of Denver. Not only was I able to capture the comet and Milky Way alongside this church, but I also managed to capture the light pollution from Denver seen lighting up the nighttime clouds. I believe that the added light pollution is a helpful reminder in showing how the lights we use affect a much larger area than we realize.

For every print ordered, 5% of the purchase price will go to Dark Sky Colorado to help protect our night sky, and another 5% will go towards the Colorado Wildlife Foundation to help protect the Colorado wilderness.
